It doesn't matter what seat, if you're at the head of table or I'm in the head of table, it's flat and we're partners and the whole Bureau is going to be our partners in this.

And it took some time.

And this was my perception to earn the trust of the, you know, the top 20, 30 of the Bureau who had hired me like two or three times to be in the positions that I had, had tried to earn.

And now all of a sudden, you know, I'm in Newark running that division for three weeks and all of a sudden I'm on top of the Bureau.

Like, I know how I would feel about me if I was in their shoes, kind of giving the side eye.

Not that they were super graceful and amazing and took me under their wings.

But I wouldn't sit at the director's desk for the first week.

I couldn't do it.

So I would sit at the conference table.

All day?

Yeah.

Well, I mean, running around to DOJ and talking to people.

I'm a social animal.

Hey, checking on everybody because of the perceived chaos.

Trying to lower the temperature.

To protect the men and women of the FBI through proving that we are putting points on the board.

Just through action.

I wasn't allowed to speak with him or anybody over there.

And so it's like, okay, we will keep the momentum of the FBI's daily accomplishments going.

I didn't have a grand media scheme.
