And I received a phone call from this guy.

His name is Peter Ingrassia.

I gave him a quick Google before he called me.

He was involved in the first administration.

He looked really young.

And I was like, okay, this is all new to me.

I guess this is standard for what happens.

Nobody had articulated that I was being vetted for the deputy.

It was to come back to headquarters to serve in a higher ranking position during the transition.

I assumed such because, you know, before that, despite what some people say or think, I had never met the current director of the FBI.

I'd never met him or spoken to him besides like a very short phone call in that lead up to that conversation with Ingrassia.

So he called me.

I didn't answer.

I went to the chief division counsel and I would say, listen, I got this phone call about a vetting interview for a high level position at headquarters.

He's a transition team guy.

I was like, is it okay that I talk to him?

He's like, what's it about?

I was like, I'll tell you later.

So he's like, yeah, you're good.

So I go through the interview process and he asked me like, you know, five or six questions.
