Well, now that we've spoken about some of the larger voter trends that came out of yesterday's primary elections, we're now going to talk to some of the candidates who emerged victorious.

Kansas State Senator Cindy Holsher became the Democratic nominee for governor over her fellow state senator Ethan Corson, who was backed by the current governor and the leader of the Democratic Party in the state, Laura Kelly.

Holster's win sets up a competition with Senate President Ty Masterson in November, and Senator Cindy Holsher joins us now.

Senator, congratulations on the win last night.

So yours was one of the closer elections across Kansas.

Uh how were you feeling as the hours ticked by?

Yeah, you won forty nine percent to thirty nine percent.

Uh that's still a pretty strong uh showing for an opponent.

I wonder what you'll do to unify the Democratic Party behind you, uh which which is w certainly what it would take to to beat the Republican Time Masterson.

Okay, but having said that, I mean how are you going to do it?

The the state still runs pretty strongly Republican.

Uh the people by and large support Republican policies.

Um what's going to cause them to to people who voted for Donald Trump uh to to vote for you?

You know, one another thing that occurs to me is uh that y you don't just face challenges in trying to reach out to the right, but now also uh to folks in the Democratic Party.

You're going to have to mend fences with Governor Laura Kelly who um who endorsed your opponent in a in a contentious primary.

She's still the leader of your state party, at least for now.

She uh w is the former head of the the Democratic Governors Association.

W how do you hope to to reconcile that relationship?

Since I've gotcha, I wanna ask you about the the vote on the constitutional amendment.
