Last Tuesday's primaries set up the contests that we'll be talking about between now and November.
Courts will likely end up deciding where congressional district boundaries will fall in the Missouri elections.
But voters have already decided who will be running in those districts, wherever they turn out to be.
I spoke with two of the winners on Tuesday who hope to take seats for the first time in the U.S.
House of Representatives.
And we start north of the river in Missouri's 6th congressional district.
It's an open seat.
It leans strongly Republican.
And in a contentious campaign that attracted attention and money from across the country, radio talk show host Chris Stegall got 44 percent of the vote, defeating Kansas City Councilmember Nathan Willett and three other contenders.
I asked Stegall how he hopes to move forward after the hard-fought primary.
What do you think made the difference?
I mean, when you look across North Missouri, including the Kansas City area, but really it's a huge cross-section of the state.
Why did voters say that you and not any of those other four candidates should carry the standard for Republicans?
You know, a lot of folks thought that the big question was whether you'd be able to overcome support for Willett in the part of the district that's in Kansas City where he was better known.
But in fact, you won in Clay County.
You won in Platt County.
What's going to be your message to voters and particularly to those voters who aren't super comfortable with how things are going right now in Washington?
You know, Sam Graves, over his time in that role, found himself sort of focused in particular areas, obviously was chair of the Powerful Transportation Committee.
What do you see will be your main focus?
