Is there a particular issue, a particular piece of legislation that even in your first term you hope to introduce, you hope to carry the banner for?

Stegall will face Democrat Josh Smeed in November.

Moving south, I also spoke with the winner of the Democratic primary in the 4th District, Jordan Herrera.

He'll face incumbent Republican Mark Alford after eking out the night's narrowest win in our area, racking up just 1,800 more votes than his closest contender, Hartzell Gray.

I asked Herrera how it felt to find himself at the end of the night giving a victory speech.

So obviously the hard work of your campaign team was part of what led to victory.

But I also wonder what you think made you the top choice of Democrats in the district.

What was it that said Jordan Herrera is our guy?

I want to follow – get to kind of the issues of the campaign though.

I mean you have an uphill battle in the 4th District against Mark Alford who in addition to having the benefit of incumbency also reflects the conservative values that I think many would say are dominant in a lot of the 4th District outside of the Kansas City metro particularly.

Is your message going to change from the message you were offering during the Democratic primary to try to attract those voters?
