So having solutions that are appropriate for all those different need states, it all starts with sub-segmentation, that we can't just have things that are meant for 100 million people.
They need to be meant for individuals and meeting them where they are.
And a big part of that for us is making sure people have the right information they need at the right point in time, because we see opportunities throughout the healthcare system today where people are making choices that are not financially optimal, or in some cases, create unnecessary care or delays.
For example, if I need a knee replacement, that's an elective procedure.
I have the opportunity to take my time on that in terms of where that procedure transpires, which doctor does it,
and what the follow-up routine is.
So that's an example of something where someone can plan for it, and we have the opportunity at the Cigna Group to provide the right information to that patient at the right time to help them with their care journey.
There's a few things that I'd highlight in regards to partnership and collaboration, as well as site of care, which I think was woven into your question there, Celia.
So for one, we believe that partnership will lead to better outcomes for our patients.
So as an example, we don't own a lot in the way of healthcare.
physician groups or hospitals or surgical centers because we believe that being a partner to those providers will lead to better outcomes.
The providers won't feel threatened, they won't feel like we're competing with them, and we'll be able to supply them with all the clinical data and information we have on the patient to provide the best outcome for those individuals.
Similarly,
In our Evernorth business, which is our health services platform, we partner very closely with health systems and hospitals to help them run their in-house pharmacies, which is an increasingly important area for them.
So we have a variety of services that we provide them, whether it's helping them with their inventory management or helping them to coordinate care across different settings because the patient is only in their hospital or health system temporarily.
Then to your point on different sites of care and where care is fulfilled, our MDLive business, which is virtual care, became really popular in the pandemic when people couldn't actually go physically to see a doctor.
But the level of care through our MDLive virtual platform is much higher than it was pre-pandemic on a sustained basis.
So it wasn't just a temporary pandemic phenomenon because we found that people like to interact virtually with their doctors.
In a lot of cases, they like to sit in their home
They feel more comfortable, maybe not as threatened to be in the doctor's office.
