My wife and I have talked about this, that the amount of decisions and things that I touch now are significantly less, but they're significantly more important.

It's easier to do the smaller, quicker things.

i think i see that nobody in companies are thinking about where the company should be in three to five years except for the guy or gal in your seat well and that's that's one of the core responsibilities of being in that seat i mean people ask me at this point like what's your what does your job look like yeah i'm like well i have a few key priorities one is that

the strategic direction of the company.

Two is to act as a conduit between teams so that we don't have the silo effect.

Like that's a big part of my job.

Three is to relentlessly root out unnecessary complexity.

And the fourth is to defend the culture.

Those four things is a full-time job.

I hired a sales rep a few years ago.

Guy was a monster, just absolute rock star.

I fired him six months in.

He was 300% to his number and I fired him six months in.

because he created chaos everywhere he went.

And it's so tempting when you see, I mean, you see it in big companies all the time where the rockstar performers can literally do no wrong if they're in sales and have no boundaries.

And the rest of the team suffers as a result.

Defending the culture means I know this guy's impact to the balance sheet.
