You know, the other thing about it is it ties to so many things that affect people who've never set foot in a barn, right?

Because if we're losing our farms, we're losing our food security.

It affects the price of our food.

It affects the ability to deliver that food.

And so, you know, it really affects all of us.

And I appreciate, you know, I try to get a laugh when I can out of things.

And so I can understand a little bit of hyperbole.

The reality is I think it kind of touches on

a really serious issue.

And farmers, I'll be honest, you know, I try to be an independent voice talking about how issues affect farmers, not be necessarily trying to argue in one political direction or another, because the reason for that is farmers are in a position where the cross currents that they face are much more complex than the political boxes that we all put each other and ourselves into sometimes.

And immigration is a perfect example of that.

So, you know, look, there are people in the farm community, a lot of farmers, a lot of people in rural America who believe in securing the border.

I think there are people on both sides of that who

you know believe in that general thing right but at the same time farmers even those who are really passionate about making sure that we secure the border also to some degree are affected by what happens to our immigrant labor you know and the estimates vary but it always bounces around that 50 percent mark in terms of the amount of farm labor that's derived from immigrant labor and so

You know, if all of a sudden you can't get the job done, I mean, some farms just can't move forward.

But also, you know, labor can become more expensive.

That can make food more expensive.

It has a huge ripple effect throughout our entire economy at that linchpin point where immigration meets farming.

Yeah, you know, I think that it's really easy to look at that and think, well, this guy's just sort of maybe in a position of either willful or unwillful ignorance, right?

And I think that it's easy to take that away from that.
