they were moving on and I joined and I went, my first station was Kilmainham and, you know, a lot of deprivation in that area, like, I mean, Fatima Mansions and Dolphin House, like, before they were rejuvenated and that, like, I mean, Guild Square, which then went into St.
Michael's Estate in the lower part of Ballyferm.
It was a huge district.
But in that area, like, I mean, you know, lots of
people who weren't well off and did a lot of silly crime, more aggression than anything else, because they didn't know how to deal with the poverty.
You had a lot of violence in the houses, in the homes as well, and that was very hard at times.
You'd go up and be dealing with a man who was after
nearly half killing his wife, like, I mean, and, you know, and you'd be taking him out and then she'd appear in the court the next morning and say, ah, he's not too bad when he's sober and, you know, and...
I know, like, I mean, but that was her life and that was the times that they lived in.
