one deciding issue yeah absolutely I think this is I think this is the issue to David's point in terms of being able to straddle both sides I think Donald Trump tried to do that and it blew up in his face pretty badly because on Monday he came out and said that he supports states rights and you know the veracity of that claim we can get into in a moment because he doesn't but regardless he said it he said he supports states rights and then what happened on Tuesday the matched

The very next day, within 24 hours, a state came out and said that we're upholding an abortion ban from 1864. matched

And so by virtue of saying that he supports states' rights, he now owns the issue that happened within 24 hours of him saying that. matched

So there is no way to be able to straddle this issue, because when you claim that you want states' rights in an attempt to make yourself seem more moderate, what the states are actually doing completely undermines that. matched
