stuff so i think it was a kind of a feedback loop where people internally were very i think they were legitimately excited about it i don't think people were making stuff up

Jim Gates, yeah.
are three very different people.

Kaku just makes stuff up.
and Green are careful scientists.
Also, Gates is more of a, at least when I think of him, he's more of a supersymmetry guy, and Green is more of a string theory and cosmology guy.
So, I mean, they just have different things.
that is true, but it depends on the question you're asking.
If the question is, does string theory describe the universe we live in, then absolutely, I 100% agree with that.
And right now, it seems there's no compelling evidence, I think, that string theory describes the universe we're living in.
However, if your question is, what can we do with this interesting new theoretical framework, which is the way I always approached my work and most of the people I know approach theirs, then that is not even, then it's just like, hey, what are the different structures we can put here?
It's kind of a different approach to it.
