Final, the anthropic employee, Levent Alpogi, and I sure hope I'm pronouncing his name right, which I guarantee you I'm not, uh decided to use one of the anthropic LLMs, Claude Fable V, to check the Jacobian conjecture.

And on July 19th, he tweeted the following.

And then in the rest of this tweet, he wrote down a function in only three variables which had a constant Jacobian determinant, but was not invertible.

And that's what this uh picture you guys in the room can see if you're not uh in the room.

You can see we have three points on the left that under this function all map to the same point on the right.

And that is not invertible because they all end up at the same place.

You couldn't start at the point on the right and go back uniquely to a point on the left.

So he found a function, or I should say Claude found a function that satisfies.

Satisfies the conditions of the theorem or the conjecture, I should say, but doesn't work, but is not invertible.

And he did it all by putting a few prompts into Claude.

In a few hours, I forget exactly how many, let's say, I don't know, a couple hours.
