Not the District of Columbia, that's right.
But there's been instant payments there for quite a while, but the bank, the central bank, saw this opportunity where they said, Hey, you know what?
We see these other countries, they're doing amazing things with instant payments.
We should be doing more of this.
What's happening?
Why can't we do more?
And they did this really interesting thing where rather than starting from the ground and building up.
They partnered with the private sector to create this centralized directory and centralized settlement infrastructure to kind of supercharge what was already starting to happen in the country.
Now, if you don't know, in the country of Colombia, there's about fifty-four million people.
And I I tell you this because as we talk about the localization of payments and we think about the country, we need to think about the the population of the country as well, right?
So fifty-four million people.
Uh when the instant payments ecosystem went live, which they named Brebe, and Brebe in Spanish means quick or fast.
Uh for anyone that's Googling, it's spelled B-R-E-B Brebe.
In the first five months.
They had more than one hundred million aliases registered.
for fifty four million people.
And funny enough, the banks saw so much value in getting people to register their aliases with the centralized directory.
Um so alias being, you know, phone number, email address, et cetera.
The banks actually ran contests.
