I was still a college kid.
I just wanted the experience and I wanted the opportunity.
And again, I have found that if you don't go away, they will often just give you what you want because they're just tired of seeing you around.
They're like, she's just not going to give up.

She can get coffee.

And then what you need a story on this ultra marathon that no one's interested in writing about.

So as I mentioned, Michigan State is a great journalism program.
They had a pretty good history of – MLB.com was a really great internship because it was a paid internship and you're basically a backup beat writer.
So when I was looking at graduating, again, my super senior year, I took an extra semester that fall –
There were jobs that were available and there was this MLB.com internship and I applied for a bunch of entry-level newspaper jobs, which was the thing to do back in like 2007 when this was happening.
And I also applied for the MLB.com internship and I actually got offered
a small paper in, I think like the Key West-ish area, an entry-level job.
And I got the MLB.com internship.
