It was half TV, half writing.

And Din Mann, who was the head of MLB at the time, was like, wait, wait, wait, we'd like to keep you.

And I'm like, well, that's great.

But what would I be doing?

And he's like, hang on, we're going to open up a beat for you.

And so that's what they did.

They opened up the Baltimore Orioles beat.

And in 2010, I started that job the first day of spring training, like with nowhere to live.

But I was making $39,000 a year and I was happy as a clam.

I couldn't believe it.

I was 22 years old and I was a beat writer for MLB.com.

And that's how that went down.

It did not go quite as smoothly as and, you know, I think people make the mistake of like, oh, she's young.

She must have not worked for it.

And I got lucky for sure.

I didn't spend years at newspapers.

But I also, to some extent, just wouldn't go away and like like just kept showing up.

And that's how I ended up covering the Baltimore Orioles for MLB.com in 2010.
