And AI token, think about it almost just like a unit of measurement, right?

I mean, it's kind of, if somebody says, hey, I'm getting a bunch of AI tokens, that pretty much just means I am spending money on AI.

So Microsoft essentially is using a ton of AI in their products, using a lot of AI tokens, as it were.

A lot of those are free because of their relationship with OpenAI.

A lot of them cost a lot of money.

In general, you know, a lot of us in the workplace here, our boss is telling us to use AI more, find ways to drive adoption.

That is running up the AI token meters and probably running up the bills that our IT departments have to worry about.

Well, if anything, they're reducing their costs.

So, I mean, this is a step that it would, you know, save them money and improve their margins.

Do I think they're going to pass that savings on to the consumer and reduce prices?

Probably not.

I mean, just the arc of history is that things generally get more expensive, not less.

But AI pricing models are really a pretty constantly shifting thing.

A lot of companies don't know the exact right way to charge for this stuff yet.

The tech job market is looking ugly.

I mean, it's kind of been a couple of years of this, of these big headlines of layoffs and Microsoft is kinda one of those classic tech employers you think of when you think of the steady jobs where people are there for thirty years making well, you know, into six figures, comfortably, supporting families.

And you know, I I think that sense that a lot of these tech jobs are kind of stable and potentially even lifelong is really going away.

And I think a lot of that is due to the AI spending, right?

Companies like Microsoft and Meta, who's also doing layoffs today, are

Spending billions, tens of billions on data centers and that money has to come from somewhere.
