Because then the next thing you need, we're going to get to the middle.
That's all the beginning.
Now we're going to get to the middle.
What you need in the middle is you need, you know, a lot of the time rituals are great.
They solve every problem.
You know what?
You know what rituals do?
It's compromise rehearsal.
It forces people to make a peace plan, as we discussed earlier.
I call this the four somethings.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something new, right?
Like you need a way.
So here's what I did in TED that was great.
And I got this idea from a ritual designer named Megan Sheldon in Vancouver, which happened to be where I was.
But I love this and I've now done it and I'm doing it actually at the launch party for a time together.
And that is I divided everybody up into twos.
Pair up with someone that you didn't know before you walked in or at least you're not married to or living with or related to or whatever it might be.
And then we passed around little cubes of bitter chocolate.
And I said, I want you to share with your partner something that's bringing you bitterness right now, that you're struggling with, like a difficulty or transition that you're going through that you're having trouble managing.
And then we passed out the bitter chocolate and everybody, and I made them decide when to eat it.
