I talked to this woman who was a death doula, and she told me that the first meeting that she had with a family, she got there, the person had just died, and there was gray murkiness in the air.
She had them put the hands on the body, wash the body.
She invited the widow to take the ring off, and she said, death is, there's an island of a living and an island of a dead, and we're going to push, our job is to push the body down.
