And so these IPO events, the secondary point you asked, why do they do it?
A lot of them are done to have a liquidation event for employees and investors.
It's like, we're going to now use this as an opportunity for you to actually cash in on your stock.
I mean, yes and no.
Sometimes there are rules around when you can sell it.
So in this case and in most cases, the stock will IPO, but there are very strict rules to say everyone who has had stock prior, you can't immediately sell it because if you immediately sell-
bang the price falls so it's called a like a lock up or a period where over a particular period of time you're not allowed to sell and then it hits a date in which okay all pre-existing shareholders are allowed to sell okay and so you'd have all these millionaires on paper sitting at spacex being like i'm waiting for this date yeah so that i can potentially liquidate yes
I mean, it is very hard to do because as a private company, there's no obligation for you while being private to release any financials to the market.
And so what happens is they release a prospectus, which is a booklet of information to investors in the lead up to the IPO.
And in that prospectus, they would have a set of financials that will show maybe the last 12 months up to the last five years, whatever period they sort of determine.
Absolutely.
