Well, you could answer that with SpaceX.
It's incredibly hard to spin up a business that is shooting up reusable rockets.
The ones that actually get up.
Is it reinvesting its profits?
Well, again, if there was public information available, the hardest one is around valuation because you don't have all the information that you need.
But as I said, like leading up to these IPOs, the company does start to release more and more information.
So you should have enough to get a bit of a sense of where it sits.
In terms of like buying on day one.
Well, the data shows that it's probably the worst thing that you can actually do is buy an IPO on day one.
Probably.
The data shows that it's probably the worst thing that you can actually do is buy an IPO on day one.
Why?
Because the whole thing really is designed on day one to somewhat reward everyone who's been involved in the process up to that point.
What I mean by that is all of these big investment banks that have come in and invested in the company in the pre-IPO, all of the investors that have invested in it over the years as it was a startup and going through its journey, this is the event for them to cash out in some way.
And so what they try and do is create a sense of scarcity.
and a mismatch between supply and demand.
They try and get all of this demand for the stocks and then say, but there's only a small amount available.
And so what we see, there's this sort of desire for there to be what they call the big pop, where it opens on day one and it's immediately up 20%.
It's up 30%, 40%, in some instances, 80%.
And what that's showing is there's so much demand from you and me and retail investors putting in orders for SpaceX, SpaceX, pushing up the price of the stock, which could already be well above the valuation.
