We want to be proactive in those negotiations as opposed to reactive or whatever.
And also from a fiscal responsibility and economical standpoint, it is always better when you pay the guy early than late.
The price never goes down.
It only goes up.
Yeah, so people talk about cluster busters or you kind of rank a group of players similarly.
Or there are a couple guys that are target guys that you're like, man, we really like this guy.
We think this guy will help us.
So there are two or three guys that are in that.
And then you begin to say, okay, well, what's the range?
If we're sitting at 56, where do we need to get to to make sure that we have a shot at him?
And you begin to assess what those teams in that range may have.
You begin to kind of preliminary make some of those phone calls.
A, would you be willing?
Now, no one is going to lock themselves into it, but you're beginning to kind of set the parameters of where you need to get to to get the kind of players that you want.
And every team has a group of players that
man, they really fall in love with and they would ideally like to have on their squad.
It's just a matter of these reasonable expectations to think that some of these players can get to us.
But if they are in range,
knowing James and how the team has operated over the last year, there's no doubt that we'll try and make a way to make it happen.
That's kind of been his history, and that's been the history of his organization that he was with before with the Rams.
