with Trayvon. Trayvon, great effort today being able to knock out the Cleveland Browns. What made you guys playing so well?
Man, it was just obviously first game, you know, we didn't play our preseason. So it was just something that we was all ready to get to get a plan with each other again, man. I feel like that really all it was. We've been working hard throughout the OTAs and then to camp and now we're in finally in the season. So we just everything started coming to fruition.
So it's funny because
you want a
lot of games in college today being on the sideline.
How did Coach Coen describe the Jaguars’ expectation to win every game?
It was like the expectation was to do what exactly took place. Have you felt the team kind of transform into a team that not only believes they can win but expect to win?
Definitely. Like you said, the key word you just said was expect. We definitely expect to win every game. That's our main goal. So that's something we kind of set a high standard for ourselves, even though everybody else, no matter what the expectations that everybody else have for us, that's the expectation that we set for ourselves. Last year, we don't like to talk about last year a lot, but that was a building block for us last year. We just want to continuously grow from last year, obviously this game, and now we just want to keep going 1% every game, every week.
Watching the defense from the sideline, the physicality, I could feel it. And I know Coach Campanelli talks about the human element to the game and knocking people out and being violent and those things. Is it contagious when you can feel the big hits begin to come?
100%. It brings energy not only to the defense, but that brings energy to the offensive side of the ball, and that brings energy to the special teams. So, obviously, you want to get those hats and hands. You hear little things like that, hats and hands. You want to celebrate with your teammates. Obviously, that brings everybody else along with you. You might be the one making the play, but everybody else is excited for you.
Well, one of the things that has been a theme for the team is turning the ball over, being able to get takeaways, and it's collective effort. It's the pass rush. It's stopping the run. It's getting plays. Talk about how you guys have continued to pick up where you left off last year.
Oh, man, that's just one of those things. We always talk about takeaways. Everybody just has to do that 1-11. I feel like if everybody's doing that 1-11, running to the ball, I always say that if you're running to the ball, God wants to want that run to the ball. and it definitely shows up on tape, and we just got to continuously keep doing that. Everybody keep doing that 111th, and we'll keep getting takeaways, and we'll keep doing what we're supposed to
do. All right, man. We got a big one next week. A lot of people are going to talk about going to Denver. How do you guys build off of this to get ready for a big week, too?
I mean, obviously, we'll go in tomorrow, and we'll go, obviously, clean up the little small things that we need to get corrected from this game, and then we just want to continuously grow on our plan. We're not really, like, that's the opponent that we're going to play, but we're more so focused on ourselves, the areas that we can improve going into this game next week. Look,

We say every just a defensive philosophy just coming out trying to start around limit big plays and create takeaways and we did. We did a good job with that, but we continue to build each and every week, so I think it was a good start. Good day.
But one thing I know about playing on great defense. There's always someone that's the tone setter. Someone has to deliver that first big hit. It seemed like early in the game you guys were knocking him off.
