The thing about the Lone Star tick is they're incredibly aggressive.
I mean, the funny thing is talking to entomologists, you know, usually they love their beasties and they like to talk about the things they study.
But with Lone Star, every single entomologist I talked to said, I hate that tick.
I hate that thing.
Like one woman said to me, Holly Gaff, she worked at Old Dominion in Virginia, and she was like, they're like the bullies of the insect world.
They'll beat you up and take your lunch money.
They just,
they actually pursue people.
Unlike most ticks, like the dog tick or the deer tick, they'll hang around on a blade of grass and wait for you to go by and then they'll hitch a ride and bite you.
But the Lone Star will actually come down and follow your heat and your carbon dioxide and track you down and crawl onto you.
On foot.
On foot.
I mean, this guy I talked to, this entomologist or the public health biologist in Martha's Vineyard was saying,
He talked to lots of people who had said that the Lone Star ticks were coming down from the dune grasses, across the burning sand and onto the beach blankets and biting people as they were sunbathing.
So these things are just so aggressive.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
And they're going after them.
And they're really hardy, so they can handle some heat.
You know, a lot of ticks will dry up too quickly to do that.
But no, they're really, they're problematic little animals.
