So I started doing my show, a once a week show.

And I used Johnny Carson's studio on the weekends so I could be near Johnny because I wanted to have conversations with him in the parking lot.

And since the time I was 14, I would talk to Johnny Carson as he pulled into his parking space.

And I would be near his space and I'd say, hello, Mr. Carson.

Good afternoon, Mr. Carson.

And over the years, he got to know my name.

Mr. Carson, I saw that routine you did the other night.

This joke was very funny, Mr. Carson.

And over the years, he got to know me.

And when I was 18, he had me on the show.

And when I was standing backstage behind the curtain ready to go on, I was joking with Gene, Gene, Gene, the dancing machine from the Gong Show and Irv.

And they started, they started, they were joking with me.

And all of a sudden they got serious.

And they said, cleared their throats, like turn around, standing behind the curtain.

I'm 18, ready to go out and do my first Tonight Show.

Johnny Carson popped his head behind the curtain and he said, kid, don't worry.

You're gonna be great tonight.

You're gonna be great.

You're gonna do great.

And I went, whoa.
