And what happens then usually is that the activity changes focus.

So focus moves away from like style or flow or beauty and focus moves towards height, number of flips, right?

Things that are more easily countable.

And that kind of shift I think is emblematic of an entire social tendency that I think we're all caught up in the grips of.

So while I was reading and I was researching this book, I stumbled across the literature from a bunch of anthropologists and sociologists that studied pickup artist culture.

OK.

So, you know, pickup artists, people that compete for sexual success.

And I think it's kind of it's kind of.

obvious in a sense, because even the pickup artist culture term for a sexual encounter is scoring, right?

And if you think about what they're competing for, number of phone numbers you get in a night, number of sexual encounters in a night, number, speed, the fastest speed from meeting someone to a sexual encounter.

And then it becomes like kind of clear, like what they don't compete for.
