OpenAI disagrees with Anthropic, who disagrees with Elon Musk.
And pretty soon you have a race.
That is exactly right.
And in fact, the community, which is well aware of this, by the way, has a word for it.
They call it hyperstition.
Essentially, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy that
that they are creating the dangers that they so feared.
That is the thinking.
The idea is if you don't go forth, somebody else will, and they will not see the dangers as clearly as you do.
Well, I think first we have to point out that this community is worried about itself.
There's so many disagreements and schisms, like we said, within this community.
So they're worried about each other.
But you're right.
There are so many important people and companies involved
that grew up outside of these philosophies, outside of this community, these are people who are interested in accelerating the development of the technology the way they've accelerated any other technology.
So these are people who see this technology as essentially not
that different than what we have built over the past 50, 60 years?
That's right.
One way to think about this is that the community we've been talking about wants to keep this technology in a bottle.
