And I said there was some sound clips of it and it was like their proper proggy psyche insanity.
Well, he was the drummer and he did buffing of vocals and he co-wrote a lot of the songs.
And then as the letter that my husband found in this massive archive of music from the 1960s confirmed, the band had had a massive argument.
And the lead singer, Jeff Howells, had left after an argument.
And I'd heard about that argument when I was a child.
And the basis of the argument varied depending on which anecdote my dad was telling.
One week they argued over a Mars bar, and that was why they broke up.
And another week they had argued over a woman, and that was why they broke up.
But either way, the band broke up.
And then I think my father always thought that at some point he would form another band and get back into it and be the man who was going to America and signing to another record label.
But that never happened.
And so we were very much brought up in a house where my father was for the first half absolutely presuming this was a temporary thing, that we would not be living like this forever.
And then as the years went by, he became more depressed and bitter and resigned to the fact that he'd lost his chance.
Well, I think he saw himself as a psychic voyager, as many did at that time.
There was a story my mum told about how he had a great quantity of acid in his flat.
He was sort of helping other people out with their psychedelic experiments.
And apparently the police came to bust him and they were knocking on the door downstairs.
