All the books that I was reading at that time were people... I was reading Laura Ingalls Wilder and kind of being in touch with the seasons.

I desperately wanted to find a maple tree that I could tap and drink maple syrup, but there weren't that many of them.

I was, all the films and books that I read told me that if you were an unusual dreamy girl with a heart of gold, that something amazing would happen to you.

So I was just waiting.

And I was convinced that somehow some people, basically the BBC was my big thing.

I was convinced the BBC would somehow find out where I was and would turn up outside my house and say, would you like to write a sitcom?

So I would spend hours every day just staring out the window waiting for a car from London to turn up.

And they would open the back door and go, come into this car, we will take you down to London and you can write a sitcom or write a movie.

That was what I believed would happen.

I mean, I had to do it.

It all came to pass.

Yeah, I mean, in the end, I realised that watchful waiting was less useful than actually cracking on writers.

So I have the bed that my nan died in and I have my sister Corin in there because my mother was very ill after she had her.

So Corin is my baby.

And then all the other kids are on pieces of foam rubber, which we've taken out the back of our Volkswagen Caravanette.

They should be the seats in the back of a Volkswagen Caravanette, but we've made them into beds on the floor for everybody else.
