That was the first book I wrote as an adult.
And just there's still the impact now.
I meet children who have been named after me because their mothers loved that book so much.
I've had so many, I mean, this is an insane thing to say, but I've had so many people going, that book changed my life.
Like that book saved my life.
You know, the advice in there about self-harm and eating disorders and, you know, your sexuality and bad relationships, abortion, miscarriage, motherhood.
And when I wrote it at the time, I remember.
Yeah, no, I've had an abortion.
Yeah.
And wrote about that.
And at the time.
No, no, no.
After I'd had two children, I got pregnant again.
And you thought enough's enough.
Yeah.
I was just like, we were just, we wouldn't, you know, if we'd had a third child, we just would not have been able to cope.
And so I had an abortion and that chapter, me, my agent and my publishers talked about that for so long.
So I was like a big columnist at the Times at the time and no one was really talking about abortion.
The conversation around abortion was very much like you do it and only if it saves your life and you must regret it and it will screw you up for the rest of your life.
Like, so you're allowed to have an abortion, ladies, but on the understanding that you are so sad and screwed up about this the rest of your life.
