So I've been trying to get an agent and they don't like the book.

That's feedback of something's not right here.

I need to rethink what I'm doing or I don't have the necessary skill base.

So I think that matters.

The other thing that matters is evidence-based goal pursuits.

This comes up a lot, especially with aspirational pursuits, where instead of interrogating the reality of how people succeed at this particular thing I care about, you write your own story you want to be true.

In my world of book writing, this happens all the time, where instead of asking, how does someone end up successfully writing and publishing a book like this?

What's the process?

What are people looking for?

What are the things you need to get past these different stages?

They write their own story.

No, what matters is I'm going to write every morning for an hour, and I'm going to do an in-run around the industry, and then I'm going to

publish it on KDP.

And they just invent a story that they want to be true because it's maybe less fraught or it's easier or it's more exciting.

And that almost never works.

So if you can actually talk to people and figure out how does this thing I want to do work, like what are the steps and how do you do it well or not?

That really matters.

And then getting the objective feedback along the way, am I in the game?

or not.

But you might have to be in the game for a while until you find your niche.
