decent split not a great one against some veteran left-handed hitters well you've got to get that ball up and in especially with a little bit of velocity and if you can establish the top part and then move it on the inner part oh buddy you're cooking with gravy because you have they have to move that contact point so far out front they have to start cheating a little bit especially the savage had a pretty decent fastball you could tell they were all tied up they were gator arming it and so he was able to get a bunch of those fastballs in and so often we talk about north south north south but

In this era, in is so effective, and he showed that if you can go fastball and speed them up, you don't have to have great stuff because I thought his off-speed pitches were okay.

They weren't the best.

They weren't great.

But, man, he provided so much insurance with those pitches by moving and taking their attention to velocity on the inner lane, and that started to open some things up for him.

So I'd love to see that from Gosman.

I know these guys are not pinpoint control guys, but, man, if you could just get it on the inner rail –

and start to establish that, then he's going to really buy some insurance on that split.

And we've seen the split from time to time from Gosman and the slider.

It's been hit with some authority.

And so I'm looking for ways to protect it.

Best way to do it, up and in with velocity to the lefties.

Yeah, I just think you've got to really be smart in when you want to use it.

And don't let a couple trick you into thinking that it is a go-to pitch.

And that is so easy to do at a catcher, especially a young catcher,

You see a guy that throws a really, really good one, and you're thinking, man, he's got a great one today.
