That is a failure.

Yeah.

And look, it's a sad reality for these kids.

It sucks that...

their country is run by extremists or their culture is XYZ.

But again, that's a shame, but it's also not my problem.

It's also not my problem to fix that necessarily.

And it's sure, those who are lucky enough to come to Australia know they are lucky.

I have so many migrants that I speak to

every single day.

I speak to Iraqis and Afghanis and Iranian people in particularly who just say that we are so blessed and grateful to come to this country that the bare minimum expectation when we are here is to contribute, to be loyal, to adhere to Australian values and to ultimately assimilate.

And I think about it and it's like, I would hold myself to that exact same expectation if I wanted to go to Dubai or the UAE.

Or I studied Japanese up until I was 18 years old and I did homestay in Japan.

And, you know, I thought to myself, oh, you know, what I do when I moved to Japan for a couple years.

nah, culturally, it's not for me.

But if I was going to move there, there would be the expectation to follow their norms, follow their rules, follow their culture.

But I didn't particularly like that.

It didn't work for me.

Same with the UAE.
