And we ought to pay attention because there is a very, very large divide between the people at the top of the Republican Party and the voters that they're going to need to stand any chance in the midterms and in 2028.

So the first question is,
No matter what the order is, it could be to any administration official, military or otherwise, no matter if legal experts might think it's illegal, does the president expect those cabinet members, administration officials to go ahead with those orders regardless of any outside thinking?
This was a conversation after the Charlie Kirk assassination, the rhetoric and the temperature.
And it just brings to mind this game Republicans like to play, which is it's bad when the other people do it.
It's not bad when we do it.
When we do it, we're just on some holy mission to spread the truth about how the Democrats are demons and how they're chipping away at the fabric of society and they're satanic and everything.
And then Democrats will draw comparisons between the authoritarian playbook of Donald Trump and then the authoritarian playbook of other regimes in the past.
And suddenly it's the Democrats who are directly calling for violence.
So when you see Trump use this inflammatory rhetoric, and then when you see the entire Republican Party, including the quote unquote principled conservatives who are supposed to be a bit more moderate than that, play along, well...
It goes to show you that conservatism is so defined by hypocrisy at this point that I don't think there's a way for this party to return to anything resembling normalcy.
