You just can't play their games with them.
I mean, in Congress, there was a resolution that several Democrats voted for and several voted present to honor Charlie Kirk and to honor him as this American hero.
You can say that somebody shouldn't have been murdered,
without honoring an individual who talks about how he does not feel safe on airplanes when there are black pilots, you can say that somebody shouldn't have been assassinated while also recognizing that their legacy is one of racism that lends itself to the violence in this atmosphere right now.
Charlie Kirk said that black women do not have the brain power to be judges.
This is somebody whose legacy is as disgusting as an individual's can be.
And again,
it contributes to a political environment where people are going to feel less safe.
And it's an extremely dangerous thing.
So when you are in Congress and in the face of this authoritarianism, so much of it, especially in Trump's playbook, is about the show that they're putting on.
It's about the theatrics.
And you just can't...
meet them at that level and play their games with them.
You have to focus on the policy and you have to focus on advocating for things that are going to make life better for Americans across the board.
Malcolm Kenyatta, the vice chair of the DNC, very young guy, great legislator from Pennsylvania.
He says the Democrats job is to make life better for people.
And that means you need to keep your eye on the ball and focus on that.
And frankly,
I find it very insulting that a lot of Democrats threw so many marginalized communities under the bus by voting to honor Charlie Kirk, who built a life and legacy around hurting marginalized communities.
I mean, HBCUs around the country were facing threats of violence the day after Charlie Kirk's assassination.
