After Kathy died, you say her turquoise chair, the one where Kathy used to sit, was still in the kitchen table.
Her room had been cleaned out.
Some of her clothes had been given away.
Removing that turquoise chair from the kitchen felt like injustice, and so it remained there, the empty chair.
Nobody wanted to be the one to remove it.
How long did it stay there?
So you guys couldn't talk about her, but the chair remained, and nobody talked about the chair?
One of the other things that you wrote which really hit me, you're talking about Kathy.
You said, lately I've become obsessed with something that had come to me when I last visited her ashes tucked into the wall of the mausoleum courtyard in Riverside.
I realized that I still thought of her from the perspective of a 10-year-old.
To a 10-year-old, Kathy was a full-grown adult.
These days, I saw things with more perspective.
Kathy was still a teenager when she died.
