And you grade your people on how good they are at getting their stuff done.

Zero at the bottom and 10 at the top.

Okay, so somewhere between zero and 10 on results.

And then across the bottom axis was core values or culture fit.

And you rate them there somewhere on low core values, low culture fit to very high, a 10 out of 10.

So if someone is below five on results and below five on core values, you fire them, right?

You get them out of your company.

If somebody is like a positive nine on results and a nine on core values, like a Luke Martin who works with you, you handcuff them.

You make sure that there's no way they would ever quit even if they got offered more money to go somewhere else.

And this has happened.

Employees who will get offered more money to go somewhere else and they won't go is because we've got them locked into the company and we know they have our best interests at heart.

That's a true A player.

And that's someone in the top right-hand corner.

If they're in the bottom right quadrant where they're really, really good core values, really amazing people, but they're not getting the results,

Often we try to coach them and we try to train them.

That's the wrong place to start.

What I try to do is put them in the right seat first.

That's what Jack would do.

This is the right person, like a Cody, but maybe he shouldn't be in finance.
