My dad said years ago that happiness and life is not about getting all the best cards.

Sometimes it's about playing a poor hand well.

And there is an example of a person who grew up on the street who crushed it in life, a person with no arms and no legs who crushed it in life, a person with, you know, a disease that crushed it in life.

People can choose to be unhappy or they can choose to be happy, right?

I have a friend of mine in Vancouver, Canada, David Ash, who won a massive award for the Entrepreneurs' Organization.

He was the social enterprise winner.

He sold his company for over $100 million 15 or 20 years ago and then bought a bunch of properties in Vancouver and donated them to the city as a place to get single moms and drug addicts off the street.

so that they could restart their lives.

And I said, Dave, what was your reason for doing that?

And he goes, you don't know my backstory.

I'm like, no, I just know you built this huge company and sold it for a hundred million in like 98.

God, 30 years ago, crazy.

That was a lot of money in 98, a hundred million, a lot of money.

And I said, well, what's your backstory?

He said, my mom was a heroin addict and my grandmother was a heroin addict and a prostitute.

His mom was a prostitute as well.

He said, I didn't know my dad.

I don't even know if my mom knows my dad.

And I didn't go to school until grade four because we lived on the street.

And I want to take people off the street.
