Former Australia and Leinster back-rower Rocky Elsom claims he can't return to France because he would be detained unjustly.
The ex-Wallabies captain was tried in absentia in October 2024 over allegations of misuse of corporate assets during his time as club president of Narbonne.
He was initially sentenced to five years in prison, with an international arrest warrant active since that conviction.
Elssam then requested that he be retried with legal representation, but again failed to appear in court.
He was then handed a two-year prison sentence and a €100,000 fine, with half of that suspended.
The charges of embezzlement relate to his time in charge of the French club between 2013 and 2016, when he had a 97% stake in the side.
He is alleged to have made unjustified expenditures to pay a coach or a general manager who was living in Australia at the time.
Elsam, whose exact whereabouts are still unknown, has done an interview with French publication Midi Olympique.
He maintained that the prosecution never notified him about his summons and argued that €100,000 paid by the club to his company during his presidency had been approved by Narbonne's supervisor.
