If that's true, then so be it.
Better that you get paid something than nothing, because now you've made it over that hurdle.
Then after that, you're going to be looking at setting your rates based on not your time, but on the outcome, on the value of what you're providing.
So for example, if you were a career coach and you're thinking, oh gosh, there's no way that I could charge $200 a session for coaching and you're hung up on the $200, you're
it's going to really be helpful for you to think of what is the long-term value that this service is providing to my clients.
So as a career coach, if you help somebody get a raise or get a promotion with a significant raise, think about just a salary bump of $10,000 a year.
Well, $10,000 a year over 10 years, over the cost of living increases that you're going to get, over the amount of additional bonuses that you're going to get, that $10,000 a year is easily $200,000 in that client's pocket.
Do you think that your $200 an hour is a great investment for that result?
All right.
That's the question that I would be asking my clients.
Tell me the value so that they really believe and they understand the value that they're bringing to their client.
And then set your rate so that it's an absolute no brainer.
Like $200 for a session.
I don't usually sell by the session.
I sell according to a coaching package.
But if we're just talking granularly, if I say, well, it's $200 a session and over 10 years, you're going to net an extra $200,000.
Who wouldn't want to work with a coach, right?
So that makes it a no-brainer.
But on the charging rate, so that's one way.
But I also really like to encourage coaches to have a coaching package, not based on the number of hours that they're working with their client, but on the result that they're helping their client get.
