So often we get so focused, as you said, on a role that we fail to ask ourselves, why is it that role?

So I'm going to give you an example of when I had the aha moment.

I was a freshman.

All my friends, all the cool kids were going to organic chemistry in the sophomore year.

But it was freshman year, but we had to declare the majors.

So I go see the freshman dean and I say, I want to take organic chemistry next year.

And he said, why?

I said, well, you know, I want to preserve some optionality.

I might want to be a doctor.

He said, you sure you want to be a doctor?

I said, well, I can be.

I can be a doctor.

He said, yeah, but...

Why would you want to?

I said, because I can be.

Because again, I'm negatively motivated.

So you tell me I can't do something, I'm all over it.

So he's now questioning whether or not I was like, no, no, I could be a doctor.

He said, well, let me try this again.
