So you have to be really adaptable.

And I remember, actually, I got fairly heavily criticised after this first or second camp.

You know, Carla's trying to play the way that she played in the WSL and she's trying to bring this expansive way with the ball.

So but everyone wants success straight away, you know, but sometimes you have to stick to your processes.

But I knew we had to continue going through those growing pains, so to speak, to get to where we needed to get to.

But then after the summer, we were looking at it and we were saying, OK, OK.

Ireland probably probably defensively we needed to be a little bit better so then it was a case of we're going to change systems stick to our principles but we're going to change systems we're going to be a little bit more Ireland off the ball and we're going to stick with the way Carla wants to play with the ball and

Something about that struck and from that moment on I think just changing and adapting that I think really helped this team massively in what was next.

Yeah absolutely and I think even against Belgium you know we had to look at it and go okay what do we how do we go how do we be better without the ball you know we have to be better with our defensive structure and our attacking structure when we have the ball but what does it look like when we lose the ball so you know by changing that and when I delivered that message to the staff and

And the players, I think actually, well, the players were delighted.

I think because we'd worked a lot on sort of one system, I think naturally there's more conversations with the staff.

But ultimately, you know, you're making a decision you think is going to be beneficial for everybody.

And I think everybody bought in and

and that helped and then you go in and yeah you're right I actually think now as a group of deaf we talked about it when it came out we had the toughest group but when I took the job one thing I said is we need to be competing against the best to get the best out of us for us to be able to learn and develop we have to play against the best
