is value in the system but it is a level of luck as well um and what i would say is for every me there's probably 10 or 15 that could have gone on to do what i have done and then there is me that you could say yeah i mean i appreciate what i've done in the game so far but
as a 19 year old 15 year old you probably wanted to do a little bit more like i love test cricket so there's not many regrets that i have in life but only playing three tests would probably come as close to regret as possible could i have gone on to play 50 55 tests as a westerner we don't play much test cricket so um 50 tests is probably realistic could i have played all over the world
gone through the bowling at Root, or bowling at Cook, to bowling at Root, to bowling at Brook, like three different generations.
So then you have to ask yourself the question, we manufacture so much talent,
if one slips through the crack and is successful and success is relative does that mean the system is successful or good enough or is there a percentage of players that we need to be producing to then say okay the system is actually working so i can't sit here and
disrespect the system that brought me through because I went right through um they had Barbados on 13 we went to England um Barbados under 15 played one year Barbados under 19 would have played um West Indies A played for Barbados senior team so I would have gone right through the wrong so there is a framework there I think
What I see at different points in time as it was going through the system and what I've seen since is that those systems could be tightened.
Those systems could be made better so that when players get to international level, they're better equipped.
For some reason, we always have this thing where when players go from first class level to international level or they will fail, they will drop back down and then they'll bounce back better.
Most other places that isn't the case.
Most other places people land on their feet, they do well, and then it's only after international cricket works them out that they may need to drop back down and come back up.
things so how as a system can we prepare our players a little bit better so that the first 18 months is filled with a little bit more um success and as a result you're hoping then that you can get a cohort of players that some players would come in and out but you've got seven eight guys that you can rely on for two or three formats at least um
miss disappear she'd be happy with the shout out um i went to her and i said that i i like business um and i want to transition from cricket into business whether commentary um supports that or not is a conversation but i generally like business got a couple businesses whatever and she's like carol as well
being what I know of you and she doesn't know much I don't see business I just see cricket and I see family from time to time so how do you class yourself as an expert to the public um eventually a few things and I was like okay well I'll get big into LinkedIn I wanted to raise some funds for a project I was doing and she was like start writing about it then um so there was another
kind of blow up as well.
But this one did ridiculous numbers.
And I was just talking about my personal experience because back end of last year,
I would have been involved in, let's say, about five engagements, some commentary, some playing.
And fast forward to March this year, I hadn't been paid for about three out of the five of them.
And it's still being owed one up to today from August last year.
