My pleasure.
I really recommend that there is a set time that people schedule to talk about finances.
It may sound funny, but it's almost like having a business meeting at work.
You want to have that business meeting with your partner to talk about what needs to be addressed, what needs to be looked at, what needs to be adjusted when it comes to finances.
It's a big psychological toll because remember, our jobs are often our identity.
We identify with our skills, with our talent, with our ability to contribute.
And when that's taken away for reasons beyond our control, there can be this feeling of disappointment or embarrassment that we can't contribute in the same way.
And that goes back to this tendency for people to start to isolate and hide or withdraw from their partner and
Because they've lost their identity and they've lost their way, literally, in how they can contribute.
One of the things I was thinking of is why wouldn't we be stressed or find ourselves being imperfect at this time?
I think in the past when things were rolling along as usual, we had our places to go, our places to be, and now all of a sudden that's upended and people are discombobulated.
And so there is this reshuffling of how to reconnect and
how to get back in sync with each other.
And that takes some time and that takes a little bit of transition and some concentrated work and effort to realize that something big has happened.
We just don't want to tuck it into our lives.
We have to sit with it, deal with it, and then find a new way of being with each other.
