I know I've heard many people telling me this about like, you're going to pay for parking, there's a QR code, someone did stick a sticker on top, and it's a fraudulent QR code.
So of course, that's something you got to be aware and be careful about.
You have to, another really important thing to be careful is,
validating that invoices or payment requests are legit legitimate right like you're expecting that invoice and um it comes from like the the right source uh and that the benefits the beneficiary details um
They must match, of course.
So that's something that you should definitely check, too.
And preferably dynamic QR codes are safer and scanning them directly within your bank or credit union app are additional that have like additional validation layers.
Right.
As I already mentioned earlier.
Yeah, that's a really great point because fraud is absolutely one of the top concerns we hear from financial institutions and rightfully so.
So instant payments definitely change the rules of the game when a payment settles in seconds and is irrevocable.
You simply don't have the luxury of fixing things after the fact.
So the way I think about transaction monitoring in this environment is it remains critical, but its role evolves.
So even though it's still critical, the way we see it is different, right?
So first, fraud mitigation has to shift upstream.
With faster payments, the most effective controls happen before the transaction is initiated.
And that's a really important point.
We're talking, again, about irrevocable transactions, right?
So mechanisms like confirmation of PE, strong customer authentication, and real-time risk scoring become foundational.
You're trying to stop a bad transaction from ever happening, not catch it later, right?
