The Democrats have given the administration this opportunity, and we don't like laying people off.
Nobody takes joy in that around here.
And if you think that, then I think that's very sad.
You view the White House and our staff as wanting to put people out of work.
Nobody wants to do that.
But sometimes in government, you have to make tough decisions.
The Congressional Budget Office has been historically wrong. In fact, they predicted the Trump tax cuts from the president's first term in 2017. Their prediction was wrong by half a trillion dollars. There hasn't been a single staffer in the entire Congressional Budget Office that has contributed to a Republican since the year 2000.
