Uh our wonderful White House press secretary and one of the most trusted aides, Caroline Levitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family.
A decision I totally understand and respect. She will now be Caroline will now be one of my top outside advisors and an influential voice with the Republican Party as we work to defy history and and conclusively win the midterm elections. And then it goes on. If there's anything that's important in there, Oliver will point it out that I did not read. And then uh moments later, Caroline Levitt, of course, letting the President break the news first, uh, post it on Twitter. Serving as a White House press secretary over the past year and a half has been the honor and adventure of a lifetime. I am incredibly grateful to President Trump for granting me blah, blah, blah, blah. And then she goes on to talk about that.

Well, I mean, she's been in the role for a long time. I'm I'm honestly surprised she lasted so long. You've seen Donald Trump go through staff, and I think that shows her loyalty to Donald Trump and how they've been on the same page, which I think is what made her such a poor White House press secretary. She, you know, we forget about this, Don, but White House press secretaries are not supposed to get up on the podium and assail the press and smear the press and go after journalists, right? They're supposed to Get up there, tell you what's going on in your government, because ultimately the press represents the public and these are public servants in the White House. And that's not what Caroline Leavitt's term has been about.
It's been about going up on the stage and attacking the media. Uh smearing them as fake news, often using uh, you know, uh going after them in personal terms, and uh not being transparent about what's going on in the people's government. And under Donald Trump, this has sort of been normalized because he's you know, all this is what he demands of his press people, but I think we should remember that this is not normal and um You know, I even have a hard time calling her a press secretary because I just feel like that's not the job she's been in. She's basically been a political operative. An apparatus. Yeah, who just goes up on stage and You know, pushes Donald Trump's propaganda to the people. And you know, that's the Republican and Democrat, that has not been the
trend. Yes, the press secretary spins on behalf of the president and tries to cast the White House in the best light, but they should be transparent.
