Um so sorry for that we're a little bit late. We are on the road traveling and uh the flight got in late, and so here we are. So for uh months now, at least two months, people have been wondering and asking what's going on, why haven't we heard anything in the Nolan Wells case? Well, we have finally heard something that happened overnight. There was breaking news uh in the story, and that uh the district attorney or at uh made a statement and uh That a grand jury had reached a decision in this case. So, like and thumbs up. Let me know where you're streaming from, but like and thumbs up, it does affect the algorithm. So, this is a very important story. And remember, this is a story that we uh covered so much uh this summer, where people relied on us uh for the information that they got here and this thing.
So, for more than two months now, there have been questions about what happened to 18-year-old Nolan Wells. And a lot of people, a lot of people. People have been following the story very closely here, they have been following it. And so now here we are. You've watched his family search for answers and you have watched this case unfold with us. And so we know the course, uh we know, of course, Nolan Wells that he was found dead uh on Horn Island in Mississippi with friends over the Fourth of July weekend. And now a grand jury has locked. Has looked at the evidence and they have decided that no one should face criminal charges here. 23 grand jurors heard from 43 witnesses, considered evidence obtained through 132 subpoenas and reviewed cell phone data, GPS records, photographs, videos, physical evidence, and investigative reports.
They ultimately found no credible evidence that anyone committed crime. Prime connected to Nolan's.
What did the grand jury hear and why did they decide no indictments were warranted?
Death. And there's another significant finding that we have here. The grand jury says that there is no evidence Nolan was involved in a physical fight or argument that day, although uh the the crump attorneys and the family's attorneys are disputing that and they said there's no evidence his death was racially motivated. Now that is a horse of another color. That's a whole different story. But here's where this becomes complicated, uh I believe. The medical examiner did not formally determine Nolan's cause and manner of death. And so People are still gonna wonder what is going on? Right. An independent autopsy commissioned by his family also cannot determine the cause and manner of death. The grand jury says that the evidence is consistent with drowning.
Essentially after other causes were excluded. Now, as I read it, they have to exclude everything else. And so to make it a drowning. So they have excluded anything physical um or some something nefarious that other put someone may or may not have done here. So that is where we are right now. Now As we look at all of these cases and look at this case, this one has been particularly guiling are for to a lot of people. Because it just doesn't make sense to them. And the we're the legally prosecutors are saying that there is no evidence of a crime here. So that's why they ruled that that out, at least at this point. And they're saying that it's a drowning. But Nolan's family's still asking questions. Uh we've been asking from the very beginning, what exactly happened?
