An amazing era and it's so suitable for the book because it's an excellent echo of a different but very connected thread in the book where you take us back to the nineteen fifties and we learn about the post World War Two migration boom to Australia.
How did you go about researching these sections of the book and what struck you the most about that migrant experience?
Because you seem to be saying something really large here about the trauma of war and how major global events have very personal and very real consequences.
