And I'm not necessarily saying that they aren't.

But what I'm saying is at the end of the day, remember that they work for law enforcement.

They are not independent.

They are not unbiased in terms of how their their job.

is to keep families calm.

Their job is to do enough so that families don't go crazy in the media and start airing out everything that's happening behind the scenes.

Their job is to sort of serve as the pacifier.

And I don't think that the public understands that because they haven't always existed.

And so in terms of them existing now, the public may think, oh, this is a step in the right direction.

Well, it's a dressed up way of trying to keep these families from being too angry

so that the public's outrage does not boil over so please do not go for that pump fake if you are watching and listening and saying oh well they have a victim's advocate liaison that must mean that you know they care about these families being informed that position is often intended to be a smoke screen for the department to uh quell any notion of outrage from the public

I think that's such an important point, Don.

And I think the issue with that point is that too many of us dismiss these situations as if they might be one-offs.

Not understanding that these are not the exception to the rule.
