And in fact, the people who have been most threatened for its further demise have been the ones who have stepped up and stood in the gap. matched

whether that's Beanie Thompson on the January 6th committee, whether that's Letitia James as the attorney general in the state of New York, whether that is Alvin Bragg as the DA in Manhattan, whether that's people like Luis Lucas. matched

It has been people of color who have put themselves on the front line for America's democracy yet again, even as the people who would seek to tear it down would denigrate, attack, and seek to castigate those same folks in those same communities. matched

And so it is ironic that the group which American democracy arguably owes the most to has been the most active in trying to preserve it, in fighting for it, in making sure that American democracy remains protected. matched

The efforts to gerrymander from the House of Representatives was really, really, really interesting. matched

Let's listen to Mike Johnson, House Speaker, and see what he had to say in response to what took place in Virginia. matched

Hyper-partisan boondoggle. matched

I don't know what in the name of word salad that means, but what I do know is that had this worked out a different way for Republicans, Mike Johnson is probably not saying about Virginia what he's saying about Virginia today. matched
